Soccer-Part Dieu

Our second week of soccer started out with two very excited little girls...because it could only improve from last week, right?

The weather was perfect.

Again, all family members came out to support them.

And again, I was ready to take some fierce action shots of my girls.

A recipe for success!

The girls, however, did not echo my thoughts and attitude.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

There was no soccer playing.

Only tears, twirling of the hair, panic, bribery, tears, and suppressed yelling from yours truly.

Thankfully for them, their daddy was the patient parent that day.

My bubble is busted.

Keep hope alive!!! Emotional people love their feelings-- and the feeling of scoring a goal or assisting a goal is well worth the nervousness! It is rough rough rough on us parents, but sooo rewarding when you see them finally "get" it.

I like to practice talking through what's going to happen and what to expect with my little emoties. And always, ALWAYS have a happy tradition- something to look forward to after the game no matter what happens. We do lunch out with the family or a trip to the park or movie time. Something they can think about instead of (in our case) sucking their thumbs (Nat) or picking their nails (Sam) in nervousness. :) Pretty soon just playing the game will be "reward" enough. Hang in there!!

Aww, they were cute anyway. Give them some time, they'll come around. Of course, by then the season will be over, but just keep doing it and it'll get better.
